Hello Month 9!

This weekend starts week 36 of my pregnancy, the official beginning of my ninth month. And I have to say, I am pretty ready for this to be over! Liam is getting SO big, and sleeping is basically impossible. It's also hot as HELL in Birmingham, which isn't helping me feel less like a sweaty whale.

Yesterday, I had my 36 week appointment. From now on, I will go weekly. Liam has dropped a little, and his head is in the "exit" position as I like to call it. Apparently, my doctor's daughter is getting married on my actual due date, so it looks like we are going to induce about 5 days early. That way, I can have my doctor deliver me, and we can avoid labor during Dow's final week of graduate school. It turns out that our planning (or lack thereof) has Baby Liam set to be here the same week that Dow has his final presentation and his final exam, and I definitely want him to pass both and graduate. And I'm not too disappointed to have him come early. It will probably help me relax a little. I've been having so many Braxton-Hick contractions lately that I stay awake at night wondering if/when I will go into labor! Now I can schedule it, show up prepared, and get my mom and dad here.

Other than that, my appointment was pretty uneventful. Liam is about 6 lbs now, and I've gained about 27. My blood pressure was good (thank goodness), and now it's just 3 more weeks of waiting and letting Liam pack on some more pounds.

I've order the rocking chair, and it should be here next week. I've got the carseat together, and we're putting the strollers together this week. After that, I'll just keep cleaning until he arrives! YAY nesting!!

Nursery Update

Below are updated pictures of the nursery. Besides the glider and filling in the shelves a little more, we are DONE! Liam officially has a place to sleep when he gets here (although he'll actually be in our room in a bassinet for the first week or so).

4.5 more weeks!

Memo to the World

Dear World:

No, our son is NOT named after Liam Neeson. Yes, Liam Sport and Liam Neeson will share the same first name. It's a coincidence. I share the same first name as Morgan Freeman, but that doesn't mean I'm named after him.

Liam is a nickname for William, which will be Liam's first name. Wil"LIAM" Dow Sport, Jr. Thus, the conclusion of this memo: Liam is named after his father, NOT Liam Neeson (although I do like him as an actor).

Regards,

Adventures in Baby Construction

This is the latest addition to Liam's nursery, a bouncer that plays music. I put it together myself last night, and I have to say that I am pretty proud of myself. It only took me about 30 minutes, 10 of which I spent stumped, and I only cursed about 4times. YAY me! It's working and ready for baby. Hopefully he'll like it because I think it's really cute.

This picture is the latest picture of my tummy (i.e., from last night). It's HUGE, and Liam is definitely running out of room. I have a lumpy, knotty tummy about 75% of the time. I hope it keeps stretching. Otherwise, I may explode.

6 More Weeks!!

It's true. We only have six more weeks until Liam arrives! Thankfully, we got a lot accomplished this weekend. Just a couple more items to add to the nursery, and we'll be done. We still have to put the car seat/stroller together, but I'll let Dow do that. If the mobile frustrated me this weekend, I think putting together the car seat/stroller may send me into early labor.

To further my nesting, I started a baby scrapbook this weekend while Dow was doing manual labor in the nursery. I thought I'd never do a scrapbook, and it's sort of funny to think that I am, but I know I will love looking back at it (although I only have two ultrasound pictures in it so far). I bought one of those pre-made scrapbooks, where all you do is add pictures and stickers. That way, I can still keep a baby book with my schedule. I don't know how people have time for scrapbooking. You have to buy a million things, cut them out, put them together, etc. I'd never seen so many stickers before in my life! Too many options for me that I don't want to deal with.

I also scheduled an appointment with a pediatrician for Monday. I guess I need to read up on what questions I am supposed to ask, other than my #1 question of "What hours are you open?" I hope this office is a little more convenient for the working woman than my OB/GYN's office is. Don't even get me started on that place......

34 Weeks

Today I had my 34 week appointment, and everything was great. I also found out that the pain and numbness on the right side of my stomach is normal. Just Liam not letting up on some nerves. He is head down now, so his feet are resting on several nerves on the right side of my stomach. Hopefully, when he drops in the next few weeks, I'll get some relief! The more likely scenario is that I will just develop some new random pain. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Tomorrow is a big day in the Sport household. We are officially starting the nursery! Once we finish painting the crown, we'll hang the shades, put down the rug, bring in the crib (which has the cutest bumper pad ever in case you were wondering), hang pictures, put up the mobile, hang the mosquito net behind the crib, and put together the changing table. The glider has been ordered and should be here in two weeks. Then the nursery will be DONE! Halleluiah! On tap for Sunday is a lot of NOTHING (well, maybe some yard work, but not too much....and True Blood Season Premier). I do have to get ready for our first party at our house though, which is July 7. Why I did that to myself, I don't know. I just really wanted to have a party I guess. I may not be feeling that way in a couple of weeks.....

Nursery pics will be up soon! Next on the agenda: finishing redoing sunroom and putting together stroller/car seat.
