I am washing my first load of baby clothes. I don't know why that excites me, but it does!

Baby Luncheon Fiesta!
This weekend was our friend Marshall's wedding in Anniston, Alabama, so Rebecca, Meredith, Ashley and Lillian were able to finally come visit Birmingham again (it's been 2 years since last time). To celebrate Liam's upcoming arrival (in 8 weeks by the way), we had a baby luncheon at La Paz (and just in La Paz's defense, their fajitas did sizzle). It's was really fun, mostly because I love getting to see my friends and opening presents!!! Below are some pics of the presents I got. They were all wonderful, and I can't wait to use them with Liam! Thank you so much!!

Heat Wave
I am SO hot all the time now. I feel like my clothes are melting onto my body. Although I know it's not a pretty site, I really want to sit in my office in my undies with 10 fans blowing directly in my face with an ice pack on my lap. I don't know how I'm going to make it through July and remain clothed. I should move to a nudest camp.
Just call me Sweaty McGhee.

I Love Surprise Baby Showers!
Today, the other "lady lawyers" I work with surprised me with a baby shower lunch. It was really sweet! We went to O'Carrs, ate girl food like chicken salad and fruit, and just talked. I also got a huge bag of goodies with a TON of stuff that I needed! Bath stuff, blankets, crib sheets, a teether, swaddles, lining pads, a cute basket! Thank you Kelly, Leanna and Tracy SO MUCH!!

I Have a Blog?
I'm starting to forget that I have blog.......
Here is a recap of the last couple of weeks. I am officially 8 months pregnant now. I feel like I am 45 months pregnant. The third trimester is definitely not my favorite. I wish I could fast forward until about July 15, but since I can't TIVO life, I'll have to wait it out.
I have done absolutely nothing for the nursery so far other than buy things. Nothing is up. I've got a lot to do in June. The window treatments are finished though, and they look great (and they fit...thank God). The bumper will be done soon, and I can finally start getting this nursery together. I've also decided that, in the meantime, I should reupholster everything in my house and have speciality pillows made, do crown molding, paint, rehang shutters, replace our front wall/window, find an antique chandelier for our bedroom, etc. I think nesting has hit!
Liam has so many clothes it's unreal. I've hung all his little outfits up in his closet based on size. I do need to pick up some more "around the house" type clothes and those little gowns. I'll do that when I'm redoing my house and the other 800 things on my to-do list.
Dow has been spending his time reorganizing/building closets in our basement. We are trying to maximize our storage space with Liam coming. A 2/1 is not the ideal size for 3 people, but we'll make it work. I really don't want to move because I love our house and neighborhood so much.
We had our 4D ultrasound last week. It was really neat to see an idea of what Liam will look like. He is sunny side up though, so let's hope he turns before delivery.
This weekend friends are staying with us for a wedding. It should be really fun! Next weekend is my baby shower, and I'm really looking forward to that.
I'll try to be a better blogger from now on!

I Passed!!
No gestational diabetes for me!! I am so happy because my next step would have been daily blood sugar monitoring, and I really have no idea how to do that.
Other highlights from my appointment today:
Size-We are measuring to "the dot," according to the doctor. I think Liam weighs about 3 lbs now.
Weight- On track. I've gained 22 lbs, so that leaves me with 8 lbs to go before I'm over my suggested gain amount of 25-30 lbs.
BP- 116/70, so in the normal range. Yay for no preclampsia!
Liam's Heartbeat- 143, which was right on track.
Liam's Movement- All the time now.
I start going to the doctor every two weeks now. My 4d ultrasound is next Thursday, and I'm looking forward to it. I have to say the ultrasounds are the best part of pregnancy. It's so neat to actually "see" your baby!

Wheel of Fortune
I like to watch Wheel of Fortune when I get home from work. Sue me. But Wheel of Fortune has added a new tile to the wheel that drives me BONKERS, and I have to vent about it somewhere, so why not my blog?
Wheel of Fortune is one of the few game shows left with terrible prizes. On a good night, a winner will take home $30k as compared to other game shows giving away hundreds of thousands of dollars. So, in an effort to keep up with these big money game shows, Wheel of Fortune added a tile to the board that is $1 million. The tile is actually one tile split into three pieces: two bankrupts on either side and the $1 million sliver in the middle. Almost every show, some goober lands on this $1 million tile and freaks out. They scream. They jump. They thank Jesus. Pat goes on and on about the $1 million tile, somehow showing excitement through his 8 lbs of make-up and botox injections. Actually, I think Pat is encased in some special game-show host gel from the planet of creepy, never-aging game show hosts, but that's another rant for another day. So, back to the $1 million tile and why I hate it. First, to even pick up the tile, you have to guess a correct letter. Then, to keep the tile, you have to (a) solve the puzzle in which you landed on the $1 million tile and (b) avoid bankrupts and lose-a-turn tiles the entire remainder of the game. THEN, if you manage to do that, you have to win the entire show and make it to the bonus round. THEN, if you make it to the bonus round, to actually win the $1 million, you have to guess the puzzle correctly in the whopping 10 seconds they give you AND the envelope you chose before you started the puzzle round (it's a wheel now where it used to be the letters W-H-E-E-L) must be the $1 million envelope. So basically, it is virtually impossible to win the $1 million on Wheel of Fortune......so Pat, players, audience people, STOP GETTING SO FREAKING EXCITED ABOUT THE $1 MILLION TILE! IT'S POINTLESS, POINTLESS, POINTLESS.
Ok, that was my rant for the day. By the way, my crazy hormones are back, although I'm sure you couldn't tell.

The Sciatic Nerve
What is the sciatic nerve? Well, it's an evil nerve in your body that is intent on ruining your days when you are pregnant. When Liam positions himself in a certain way, he ends up on this nerve, and I literally can't walk. I can be in the middle of walking and then I suddenly fall. It's really fun to fall for no reason (I'm not falling down to the ground, just stumbling). I enjoy having people look at me like I'm a complete weirdo or, even worse, a drunk pregnant woman. Eventually, Liam moves and I regain normal movement, but I am really considering calling life alert. I need a button that says, Help! I've fallen and I can't get up! (except I'm not 85, which makes this even more depressing).

Baby Gear
Babies-R-Us started a huge sale today on strollers and carseats, and the gear I had registered for was close to 50% off! I'm so happy I got my stroller and carseat and that my mom and grandmother saved a bunch of money! YAY! I can't wait to get them to my house so I can "practice" by pushing Otis and Aubie around in the stroller until Liam gets here.

Results
I got my GTT results today, and I failed my 3 hour screen. I passed at the fasting, one hour and two hour levels, but this one failure means I have to come in for another 2 hour test. YUCK!

Worst Morning Ever!
This morning was my glucose tolerance test to determine whether I have gestational diabetes. For funzies, let's just have a recap of this most pleasant experience. This morning, after pretty much no sleep from worrying about this test, I arrive at the doctor's office at 8:45 for my 9:00 appointment. At 9:00, I have my first blood drawn from my left arm for my "fasting" levels (i.e., my glucose level after no food since last night). Then, I had to drink the entire coke-sized can of pure sugar water, which you would think I'd really like since I love sugar so much, but with no food in my stomach, it was just plain gross. AND, you have to drink it in like 3 minutes, so that didn't help things. That stupid drink always gives me a massive headache, but I downed it anyway. Then, I got to sit in the waiting room for an hour until it was time to do my 1 hour screen. At 10:15, I returned to the lab to have blood drawn from my right arm. Super fun. Then, back to the waiting room for another hour, but at least now I can have half a cup of water. At 11:15, I returned to the lab to have blood drawn from my left arm, again, for my 2 hour screen. However, this time, my arm was void of blood. I could clearly see the needle sitting in it, but no blood would come. Even after some very painful wiggling of the needle, my veins would not cooperate. Time for another stick in my other arm. The nurse switched needles, hoping this would help, but even my right arm wouldn't give any blood. They even attached a suction to the end of the tube of the butterfly needle to try and suck the blood out, but nothing happened. Finally, before I started to cry, they stopped. Next step, my fingers. Thankfully, the prick of my middle finger produced enough blood to file a small vile for my 2 hour screen. Then back to the waiting room for another hour. At 12:15, again, I returned to the lab for my 3 hour (and final) screen. We didn't even try the arms and, instead, went straight to my fingers. We did the middle finger of my right hand, but NO BLOOD. We did the pointer finger of my left hand. Still, NO BLOOD. Finally, they restuck my left middle finger in the exact same place (ouch), and there was enough blood to get a vile for my 3 hour screen. FINALLY, I got some crackers (did I mention no eating during this entire time...not even gum), and a diet coke, which made me MUCH happier. I should get my results soon, and I pray to God that I do not have to have another 3 hour test. That was by far one of the most miserable mornings in my pregnancy, and I really don't want to repeat it! On a brighter note, the lab tech told me my initial screens were looking good, so that's a sign in the right direction.

Welcome To The Third Trimester!
This weeks marks week 28 of my pregnancy and the official beginning of my third trimester. I have about 2 months and 3 weeks before Liam is here (if he arrives on time-July 25). So far, I've been overloading myself with massive amounts of things to do, but I have seemed to get a lot of stuff done. I have my crib, changing table, a decent amount of newborn diapers, baby wash, a bassinet, blankets and a ton of clothes ready to go (well...the clothes and bassinet bedding needs to be washed, but I'll wait until later to do that). Today, I picked up Liam's crib mattress and a rug for the nursery. My fabric is with the seamstress, and she should have it ready by the beginning of June. My goal is to have everything up (and least furniture-wise) by the first of June. Then I'll start washing his clothes and stocking up on last-minute things I still need (yes....June isn't very last minute according to my due date, but you never know) and try to RELAX! Once I get Liam's carseat, stroller, and bath tub, I should be ready to bring home a baby. Then, I'll just have to figure out what to do with him other than stare at him and think, "What do I do now?"
Dow has been a load of help, too. He has completely relandscaped our yard, and it is finished! Well, we still have to plant our veggie/herb garden, but we bought the plants today (basil, cilantro, green and red bell peppers), and I'll plant them tomorrow evening. Other than that, it's done. YAHOO!! The grass is taking really well, too! I'm so glad Dow was able to do all this by himself. He really should start charging! He also built a new closet in our basement, so we finally have a place to store coats, his dress shirts, my dresses, etc. It should free up some room in the nursery since we still have to keep some of Dow's clothes in there due to our small size of our house (2 bedrooms) and our poor baby planning! Liam wasn't supposed to be here for another 3-4 years, but what can you do? I'm sure my mother is answering that question to herself right now with things we could've done.........BUT, we are so lucky to be blessed with a baby whether he is on my schedule or not!
As far as the third trimester goes, I can definitely say months 4-6 were my "honeymoon" phase. Now, I'm just a complaining, grumpy pregnant woman. Scoliosis and pregnancy isn't the best combination, but I'll make do. I just walk around my office floor like a total weird-o a lot now, and fidget in my chair because my back seems to always seriously hurt. I know it's not going to get any better, so I've just got to deal. Other than my back pain, everything else has been going fairly well. I have my glucose tolerance test tomorrow to confirm if I have gestational diabetes or not. At my initial screen, my sugar levels were "up," but by how much, I don't know. I've been on a very low sugar, healthy diet, which I should be eating anyway, and tomorrow, after having my blood drawn FOUR different times...YES FOUR...and waiting in the doctor's office for FOUR HOURS, I should have a diagnosis. Hopefully, the change in my diet was enough to level off my blood sugar. If not, I'll take the next step of managing diabetes to the best of my ability. Damn Easter candy!
