At least someone in this house is putting their shoes up (just maybe not in the right place).

Back From An Almost Heart Attack.
We went to Auburn this weekend for the Clemson game. Liam was a trooper during his first tailgating experience, even though we both were sweating like pigs. I can't even explain how miserably hot it was. At one point, it was 98 degrees. Not my idea of football weather.
Not to even mention the actual game, which almost gave me a heart attack. I'm glad we won, but I want to give the Clemson kicker a hug. Poor guy.
Here are some pictures from the football game.

Here we are playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Somebody Save Me!
If Liam could talk, that was what he would have been saying last night instead of screaming in the tub.
You see, Liam poo-pooed in the tub. And, apparently, he was not very pleased with himself (and neither was I). He was madly trying to climb up the bathroom wall to get away from it (and I don't blame him). Sigh...
In other news, Liam will start school again in mid-October. We finally got a spot at the Highlands Methodist Child Development Center, where we have been on the waiting list for a year and a half. I had a very difficult time making the decision to send him. I really wanted to wait until he was two, but we got a spot that I just couldn't give up. And, as much as I love Julie and having Liam at home, I know it is time for him to be around other children his age. He will go three days a week, depending on Dow's schedule, and will be in the buttercup class. They have a set schedule with playtime, a snack, storytime, lunch, an afternoon nap (on a cot-oh, lord), crafts, another snack, and then more play. When he gets older, they will also have a church activity. I'm both excited and anxious about him going, but I have no doubt he'll love it. And, maybe they can potty train him?!?

The Devil Comes on Sunday Morning.
So, for the past few weeks, Dow and I have been attending Highlands Methodist Church in 5 Points. We enjoy the church and the nursery school program. Liam seems to enjoy it, too.
Today, however, I don't think Liam was on his best behavior. He screamed with all his little fury when I left him, which isn't unusual. Most of the time he gets over it pretty quickly. But, when we came to pick him up, we were told that Liam did "fine" and was "pretty good." That's just a nice way of saying that your kid was a holy terror and now please take him home. The sweet nursery school director told us that sometimes on Sunday mornings, the "devil takes control of our children" while we try to go to church. This made me laugh because, basically, she compared Liam to the devil, and I have no doubt the comparison was justified. Dow told me it was because I had Liam in too small shoes. Really? The shoes make him a sassy pants? But, in any event, just to be on the safe side, I bought him some new bigger shoes online about 5 minutes ago.
What are we going to do with this child? "No, Liam" is now met by a defiant squeal, curled fists, and crying. Biting has even entered the picture, when he's particularly frustrated. Hopefully, his new bigger (and apparently magical) shoes will arrive soon and all will be right with the world. Yea right.
Will the parenting fairy please make a stop by our house?

Engrossed.
Emme left yesterday after a weekend of literally shopping until we were dropping. Well, I was dropping. Emme was still rocking. I've come to realize that I'm just not that much of a shopper. My idea of shopping all day is hitting two stores and spending the remainder of the day at home.
The balls of my feet are still hurting.
So, in light of our exhausting weekend, Liam and I decided to relax yesterday. We never left the house, which is my kind of day. Liam played with his toys, which I really think he genuinely missed, and I started reading my Costco buy: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
I love to read, but I rarely have time to do as much reading as I would like. You see, by the time I get home, get everyone fed, clean the kitchen, give Liam a bath and put him to bed, I am exhausted. I may (and that's a big may) stay up until 9:30. At that point, I just don't have the energy to read anymore.
I've realized that this might also be a function of the books I've been reading. I've always been a big mindless thriller girl, you know, the Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson books. But, recently, I've wanted a little more out of my reading. Something that was a little more thought-provoking than the same plot with the names changed out for the 100th time.
So, on Saturday, while walking every single aisle in Costco, mom bought me this book.

I had seen it when it first came out and passed on it for some reason. Recently, I saw the movie cover in Blockbuster and decided to read the book before I watched the movie, which my mother just can't seem to understand. I have to say, I am engrossed. I read half the book yesterday afternoon while Liam played in his playroom.
I can't wait to get home to start reading again tonight. And, what's even better, this book is part one of a trilogoy-and not some god-awful, tween, I love vampires trilogy-a REAL trilogy.
YAY! Thanks, Emme!
