No.

Someone in our house has a temper, and that someone would be Liam.

He has quickly learned the word "no."

Here is how it began:

Over the last several weeks, we've started to notice a new response from Liam when he does't get what he wants: a giant grimance, balled fists, and an annoying squeal. It looks something like this (minus the hair and wrinkles but add balled fists and a squeal):

It must stop now.

So, Dow and I are trying out our newbie "parenting skills." This consists of a firm "no" and even a hand pop now and then (when he insists on pulling out electrical cords). I'm surprised at how quickly Liam has learned the word "no," but I'm even more surprised by his need to test us (or find his limits).

Last night, Liam was eating dinner with us at the table. When he decided he was done, he began the grimace/fists/squeal combo. His 'tude was received by a firm "no" from Dow. Again, we got the combo, and, again, Liam got a firm "no" from Dow.

Liam then proceeded to sit there, quietly, but fuming like a baby freight train. He was mad as hell about having to sit through dinner quietly. His face was beet red and frozen in a most unattractive frown. As we continued to eat and he realized he was not going anywhere anytime soon, he face got redder and redder (again, all in silence). At one point, I literally thought he might explode. I had to cover my mouth so he couldn't see me laughing. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen (along with Dow's "you better mind me because I'm your dad face"). If only I had pictures . . .

I can tell this "discipline" thing is going to be interesting.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

This is my first "official" Mother's Day. Last year, we had an "almost" Mother's Day celebration, but I have enjoyed this year's Mother's Day way more!

I got a beautiful ring from Dow and Liam. It was a total surprise, and I love it (which is a surprise in itself-Dow rarely gift shops for me without asking first)!

Liam apparently picked it out after Dow narrowed it down to a few choices. So, of course I love it! And, for those detailed-oriented readers, I'm wearing it on my left-hand so I could take a non-blurry picture. Every time I tried to take a picture with my left hand, my hand would shake and the picture would blur.

Liam looks pretty proud of himself in this picture (as he should be). He's a wonderful blessing, and I'm thankful to be his mother.

Love to all the mommies out there, especially my mommy, my grand-mommy and Dow's mommy!

The Destructors.

I have learned to accept that I now have three destructors in my house.

Here is Destructor #1.

Although he looks adorable and innocent, about five seconds after I took this picture he was attempting to eat dog food (which he seems to thoroughly enjoy) out of Otis's bowl.

Speaking of Otis, he is now better known as Destructor #2. Destructuors #1 and #2 like to plot things together. Here they are in the dining room plotting something that I'm almost 100% positive involves food (dog or people).

Destructors #1 and #2 are actually best buds now. They play together for hours, chasing each other around the house. Destructor #1 laughs at Destructor #2 while Destructor #2 barks at Destructor #1.

For the longest time, Destructor #1 did not venture into the kitchen. It was unfamiliar with no cool toys. Now, Destructor #1 bounds through the kitchen like it's nobody's business.

When he's not practicing his "feed me" face, Destructor #1 is exploring (and destroying) my kitchen. Last night's adventure was the dishwasher (which I secretly hope Destructor #1 will destroy because it's old and terrible).

Although not pictured, I think we all know who Destructor #3 is. Let's just hope I can keep my house in one piece when Destructor #1 really starts walking.

Leave of Absence.

Although I'm late in posting (as evidenced by Elizabeth's more current blog and the many people who have told me so), we had an enjoyable weekend in Auburn now two weekends ago. Boy, I'm behind.

Liam had his very first baby pool experience. He loved it. Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa for my awesome pool, my new swing, and my much needed SPF 50 sunscreen.

We also visited the fire station with our sweet friend Reese. I think we were more entertained than the boys. We were definitely some crazying picture-taking parents. We hope you feel better soon, Reese.

Finally, Emme and Coo Coo have been here since Tuesday helping me with Liam while Dow was out of town teaching a class. It's been a long week in general (thanks, work), and I'm so glad they were here to help me. I had a clean house and a yummy meal each night. Of course, I forgot to take pictures, again! I need to get better at that. Thank you, Mom and Coo Coo.

Teething.Is.The.Worst.

Do I really need to elaborate?

I think I've held my child for the last 48 hours straight. If he doesn't have some new teeth by the end of this week, I'm going to have a serious talk with his gums.

Hippity Hoppity.

Easter was great. I'm so glad I got to make the trip home. I got to spend some time with family and friends. Liam had a blast and got mucho goodies from the Easter bunny!

I miss Bastrop a little already!

Liam dyed Easter eggs at church, mixed and mingled with friends and family, and even found a whopping 1 Easter egg at the Easter egg hunt! He looked beautiful on Easter morning in his bubble courtesy of Morgan Sport designs (but obviously not Morgan Sport sewing).

Liam loves watching my dad play guitar, and he will even pick a few strings. He thinks he's a pretty big boy when he plays the guitar. I guess I'll be purchasing one in the next 3 or 4 years.

Liam had his first crawfish (by accident, I didn't give it to him). He was not a fan. But, he did love just about everything else my mother gave him, including beef jerky. I know...I know...what baby eats beef jerky? Well, apparently mine.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. I wish I got to go home more often, but after the car trip home on Sunday, I quickly remembered why I don't. Liam was less than pleasant.

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures!

I Promise.

I promise to update the blog soon.

I must have 100 pictures from Easter to upload. Let's hope I can stay awake after munchkin goes to bed tonight, but based on my 5:30 a.m. wake-up call and the fact that I'm home alone tonight, it's doubtful.

My goal is by the end of the week.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
