Happy One Week, Liam!

Tuesday was Liam's one week birthday! It's gone by so fast, and he's already growing and changing so much. He is officially jaundice-free. No more glow worm for us! We went back to the pediatrician yesterday, and he now weighs 7 lbs and 3 oz from his original birthweight of 6 lbs 13 oz. He is more alert this week and is staying awake in between feedings for longer periods of time. I read him a book last night during "tummy time," and he really tried to focus on the pictures. We have also been propping him up on his boppy to help him strengthen his neck. Otherwise, he is just a sweet baby boy.

I've posted some pictures from this week. More to follow!

William ("Liam") Dow Sport, Jr.

LIAM HAS ARRIVED!!!

After 12 hours of labor and a "failing to progress" cervix, Liam Sport arrived via c-section on July 21, 2009, at 6:11 p.m. He weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19.5 inches in length. He was smaller than expected, but he is a strong and healthy baby. He eats like a champ, sleeps like a champ, and poops like a champ! Dow and I are both enjoying being the parents of this sweet little baby boy.

More to come!!

The Return Of The Right Leg

About noon today, I experienced a wonderful thing. I had just returned from lunch, and I was sitting on the floor in my office with my legs stretched out (my feet were starting to swell). I felt all of this rumbling in my tummy, and I noticed that Liam had moved from his normal sideways position on the left side of my body to facing inward in the center of my tummy. Basically, his back is lined up in the center of my tummy, with his head at my pelvis and his bottom right underneath my boobs. Needless to say, he is planning for his decent. BUT, the best part is his change in positions has greatly lessened my sciatica. HOORAY! I can now walk with just a waddle, instead of a waddle and a limp.

Let's hope Baby Liam comes out soon (and doesn't return to his normal spot in my tummy)!

Ready To Go

My bags are packed. I'm ready to go. Only 11 days until my due date.

Speaking of packed bags, here is what I have included so far:

3 gowns
1 nursing tank
Other nursing gear
Slippers
Flip-flops
Socks
Blanket
Pillow
Robe
Going home outfit for me and Liam
Toiletries

If I'm missing anything important, please let me know. Dow is handling the camera/batteries/baby gear. Keep in mind our house is only about 8 minutes from the hospital. If we forget anything, it won't be the end of the world, but I do like to be prepared.

I Love My Mommy

Dow was out of town this weekend for Laura and B.J.'s wedding in Florida, which I sadly missed (but my cankles and giant stomach would have seriously ruined pictures). My mom came to Birmingham and stayed with my until Dow got home.

We had such a good time, mainly because mom did EVERYTHING for me. She cleaned my house, including my oven that is now spotless. She watered my yard. She took out the trash. She did about 12 loads of laundry. She gave me a pedicure. She made me chicken spaghetti. She went to Wal-Mart for me. She helped me pick up the rocking chair for the nursery, and she lugged it into the house all by herself. She gave me curbside service all around Birmingham since I'm having some trouble walking, although city traffic isn't her thing. She made Liam a sign and wreath for his coming home party. She sat with me at the doctor's office. She slept on the couch so (1) I could have the bed, and (2) Abby wouldn't whine. She made me blueberry pound cake. She bought me stuff. She helped me find some awesome baby consignment shops. She let me eat pretty much all the cookies from Savages and the french fries from McDonald's. She dropped off all my bags at the Salvation Army. She cleaned all the trash out of my car, which was substantial. She took care of the dogs. She listend to me whine and complain and cry on occasion. She made my bed. She was wonderful.

I love you Mom, and I'm sad you're gone. Come back soon.
