Our New Camera

For Valentine's Day, I bought Dow a very nice camcorder. I spent about an hour at the store looking at them and telling the salesperson what I was looking for in a camcorder. Well, on Sunday, I made my first video. Turns out, unless everyone I know has the specific Panasonic software for my camcorder, they couldn't view my videos. What's even more aggravating is that I SPECIFICALLY told the salesperson I wanted this camcorder to make DVDs and to email short clips of the baby to my family/friends. GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

We took it back last night, and after they tried to prove me wrong to no avail, we exchanged the camcorder for a higher end Canon Powershot. So far, the camera takes great shots (probably even better ones if I had some camera training) and transferring pictures is a breeze. Here are some shots of Nugget's gear and my tummy at week 17.5. Week 18 will start month 5!!!

This is a fuzzy sleeper I bought at Baby Gap.

My giraffe playmat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nugget's firetruck onesie from Aunt Pam. Beep! Beep!

Finally, my tummy. A little background info: this is my tummy after breakfast, lunch, two snacks, and dinner. It seems to expand throughout the day, kind of like it did before I was pregnant!

I hope everyone enjoys!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Yesterday, I had the best Valentine's Day a girl could ask for. First, Dow was actually home! This doesn't happen all that often with his current school/work arrangement. Dow gave me this huge giraffe mat I've been eyeing since the day I found out I was pregnant. It is SO cute! Basically, you put it on the floor for the baby, and he or she crawls/plays/sleeps on it. It was the best gift he could've gotten me! He also got me (and Nugget) a box set of all of Beethoven's symphonies (1 through 9). Number 7 is my favorite, but I figured Nugget will get sick of that pretty soon, so I'll mix it up when Dow puts these C.D.'s on my iPod. And somehow, Nugget even made it to the store and got me a card!
After gifts, we went to McDonald's for breakfast together. YUM! And what was even more entertaining about our McDonald's trip was the old man that I thought was literally going to punch Dow in the face for getting his drink then ice, instead of getting his ice and then filling up his cup with his drink. Geez man....settle down! After McDonald's (and the box of chocolates I ate in between), it was off to the spa. I had a very relaxing aromatherapy massage followed up with a facial that wasn't so relaxing but enjoyable nonetheless. Then I made my first trip to Baby Gap and picked up a couple of sale outfits for Nugget to wear next winter. Dow met me at Baby Gap, and we made stops at Steinmart, Motherhood Maternity, and Macy's. I got a really nice cocktail-ish dress at Macy's from INC. I love that brand, and I was so happy it WASN'T a maternity dress. It's just high-waisted with an a-line skirt, and it fit my bump no problems.
When we were finished shopping, we headed home and started getting dressed for our dinner date. I got to wear my new dress and felt pretty hot for the first time in a while! Getting bigger doesn't always make me feel that pretty, and neither do some of my maternity clothes. Dow and I had a very nice dinner at 26, and we got home about 7:30. Then we headed across the street to our neighbors' house and played Mexican dominoes for the next 3 or 4 hours. I stayed out until 10:30, which is a HUGE accomplishment for me right now! I had so much fun!!

I hope everyone had as great of a Valentine's day as I (and Nugget) did!

Thanks, Dow! I love you (and Nugget does too) :)

There is a God!

Anyone that knows me knows that I own every episode of The Golden Girls on DVD. In fact, I would estimate that I have seen every episode at least 10 times. Whether it's a boy or a girl, my baby will DEFINITELY be rocking this onesie:

This will be the best $20.00 I EVER spend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for being a friend.....Morgan

Baby Shower Cake Ideas

My sister-in-law, Heather, and my aunt-in-law, JoAnn, have kindly offered to host a baby shower in my honor in Auburn sometime this spring/early summer, and I am SO excited!!! I've been really, really wanting to have a baby shower. When Heather asked me if there was anything in particular that I wanted to have at the shower, I told her a beautiful cake. I've been to so many baby showers with beautiful baby-themed cakes, and I really want one of my own (plus I just like cake).

Today, I've poked around on Google looking for some good ideas, and I think I've found the perfect example for Heather to take to the bakery:

What do you think?? Classy and encouraging!!! I think it's very appropriate.....

Return to the Living

Today I return to the living after spending Friday and Saturday (and some of this morning) battling a horrible stomach bug. At one point I actually thought I might throw up Nugget until Dow told me that was physically impossible. Friday night I was in the bathroom every two hours, and what's worse, I was all alone. Dow was working. But when I think about it, I didn't even really want Dow (sorry, Dow). I mean, Dow was great when he got home Saturday morning. He's a good nurse. But all I really wanted was my Mom. It made me think about this time I had a horrible stomach bug growing up, and she spent the night with me on the floor of her bathroom. Friday night I really wanted her to come to Birmingham and spend the night with me on the floor of my bathroom (although I don't think we could've fit). I guess no matter how old you are, you are never too old to just want your Mom sometimes (until she starts fussing at you....then she can go back home).

I hope I'm as good of a Mommy to Nugget as my Mommy is to me :)

I'm playing Nugget some Grateful Dead right now. I don't know if that's the best way to start him/her off as an upstanding individual, but it's good music.

Otis and his Bad Mommy

Yesterday, I realized that my track record at being a good mom isn't so hot. I took Otis to the vet to have his teeth cleaned, and he came home with three missing! Turns out three of his teeth were infected at the roots as a result of my doggy dental neglect. He was put to sleep, had the bad teeth removed, stitched, and given a large doggy dose of morphine.

I felt so bad for the little guy when I got home that I bought him the fanciest soft dog food I could find, and then I got a little jealous because it looked and smelled so good! He gobbled it up, though, so he must be feeling a little better.
Maybe the tooth fairy should bring him a little gift??
Let's just hope I do a little better with Nugget's teeth!
