He Can Hear!

Yes, I have been absent from the blog for quite a while now. I am in the middle of writing an appellate brief that is literally taking all my time (and I shouldn't even be blogging at this moment), BUT, I had to post about our latest discovery with little Liam.

Now that Liam is getting fairly big (I am 26 weeks), Dow enjoys talking to my tummy. Well, we've noticed that he is starting to actually respond! Over the past two days, when Dow gets close to my tummy and says "WAKE UP, LIAM," he kicks and moves. It's so cute! Obviously, he is not responding to Dow actually say, "Wake Up," but he is responding to the noise. I wonder how he is going to handle the Coldplay concert in May??? He may be jamming more than me!

What's Going On

In case anyone was wondering, here is an idea of what Liam looks like right now at 24 weeks (around 2 lbs).

FINAL "Final" Change

I've been informed by the fabrics gods that you can't have two stripes together (although I consider zebra more of a "print"). The fabric has been changed yet again to the same multi-colored stripe with a brown and blue polka-dot. That's it. No more changes. I am sick of fabrics.

Happy Month 6!!!

This week marks the beginning of Month 6. Only 16 more weeks to go, and Baby Liam will be coming home! I have FINALLY decided on fabrics for the nursery, and, of course, they are completely different from what I thought I was going to do earlier. Once I got the swatches in, I just wasn't completely sold on the damask idea. Instead, my aunt included a very cute brown and white zebra stripe and a really cute multi-color stripe that I really liked. I've decided I am going to use those fabrics because (a) I just like them, and (b) I think I can use the multi-color stripe as the baby grows. I don't know how damask would look in a four year old boy's room. Here are the fabrics (and the walls are blue with white woodwork in case you didn't know):

I am going to do the multi-colored stripe for the roman shades on both windows. The zebra will be the outside of the bumper pad. The inside of the bumper pad will be a very soft white fabric for Liam's comfort. The bumper pad will be piped in the multi-colored stripe, and I'll secure it to the crib with brown grosgrain ribbon. The crib skirt will be white with a brown stripe along the edge (when Pottery Barn finally mails it after June 6!). I really think it's all going to look great together (or at least I hope it does)!
Comments/suggestions anyone?

Help!

Has anyone seen my belly button because I've lost it?

If you find it, please return it to me ASAP. I really miss it.

Sugar...sugar...and more sugar

This month seems to be the month for sugar. That is literally all I want. Real coke, almond joys, sour patch kids, ice cream, krispy kreme.....anything loaded with sugar. It's weird because I haven't really been craving this at all until recently. Although sugar is my staple today, here are some of the foods I've seemed to really enjoy while pregnant:

1. Mexican food, particularly guacamole (or just avocados in general). The amount of guacamole I ate last month would sicken a normal person.

2. Cheeseburgers from Sonic with mustard and pickles.

3. Pickles in general

4. Lemonade

5. Icees

6. Fresh fruit

7. Fresh spinach

What a weird list!!

Mission Somewhat Accomplished

Mom and Coo-Coo came this past weekend to tackle baby-stuff. Surprisingly, we got more on our list accomplished than I thought we would. We bought the crib and a changing table, which took a load of stress off my mind. The crib is a cherry traditional Jenny Lind. It was the closest affordable crib I could find that looked somewhat like the Pottery Barn crib I would have bought if I lived in imaginary unlimited money land. The only thing I don't like about the crib are the wheels, but that actually might come in handy down the road. The changing table matches the crib, so it worked out well. Right now, they are sitting in boxes in our basement until June (that is, if certain people come to Birmingham for Marshall's wedding.....that means you Rebecca). Here is the crib (but we got it in cherry; this picture is in black):
Fabric was another story. I didn't realize how terrible the fabric stores are here. If you want to spend $40.00+/yard for fabric, you're in luck, but if you don't, the options aren't in your favor. We must have driven all around Birmingham and found NOTHING that I liked for less than $25/yard. Who is going to spend that much for a baby to puke/pee/poop on?? Not me. Lucky for me, I have an Aunt who is a fabric store junkie, and she found the perfect fabric for me in Memphis. Now we just have to get it ordered, get it to Bastrop to our seamstress, and then get it back to Birmingham. This is the fabric for the window treatments and bumper:

I am going to wait on nursery decor until I get the furniture in the room. I've also been unable to find a maternity blazer that I like. Anyone have one I can borrow?
